Falling under the umbrella of Sury'a Smithsonian Collection of rugs, the Heritage collection are inspired by asymetrical designs from a periodical called Shin-Bijutsukai (c. 1900). That periodical is housed in the rare book division of the Smithsonian Libraries. Design publication such as these were meant to inspire decorator, artists, and craftsmen of yore. It is incredible that they are still inspiring people to this day. Being as these rugs are hand knotted from the finest wool fibers imported from New Zealand, these rugs are sure to stand the test of time as well (although maybe not 100 years like the periodicals).
