|Material||100% New Zealand Wool|

|Style Description||The original antique from which this Kirman Medallion pattern rug was adapted probably dates from the 19th Century. The elaborate curvilinear design and field thickly strewn with arabesques and natural floral elements is a typical characteristic of rugs classified as Kirmans. Another almost constant characteristic is the use of many borders...usually five or seven...often decorated with plant vines. Also typical is the variety of colors with the predominance of ivory, blues and reds. The color palette used in this pattern comes entirely from our Multi-Color Panel Kirman, making it a perfect complement. Emphasis has been placed on the rich indigo blue, brick and madder reds, tobacco golds and browns, olives and accents of soft aqua, soft coral and burgundy. Throughout the field, the colors have been abrashed using many shades of each color, providing a stria effect typical of aged vegetable dyed yarns.|

This is the collection that created the reputable name of Karastan. It was the skilled redesigns, of original oriental rugs, from this collection, that first put Karastan on the map. They were first sold in 1928 and have since become a status symbol for any discerning interior designer or homeowner. These rugs are woven on Axminster looms from luxurious, premium wool and then washed with a finish to add the appearance of age and patina that give off an established traditional atmosphere.
I inspected all the web-sites on the internet that sell rugs and I happened to stumble onto plushrugs.com by accident. So I put in a search for the Karastan 700-718 and found it easily, showed the rug to the boss my wife. She was impressed by the price because the price was better by 20% thru plushrugs.com. When the rug arrived it was better than the photo by far. The rug is a show stopper. Gary from Savannah, Georgia"
