The deep, inviting pile of shags is irresistible for many designers. One of the most common ways to add textures to a room, the style shows up in mid-century designs, contemporary rooms, even minimalist and "scandi" designs.
Shags come in a variety of materials, like flokati wool, faux and real fur, leather, and acrylic. The high pile of a shag rug means a heightened sense of warmth and movement, but comes at a higher standard of maintenance. Shag rugs should be shaken, not vacuumed, and may need additional combing or slight untangling by hand.
