Some interior decorators consider brown to be “the new black” and chocolate brown, in particular is especially popular. Of course, with a color this dark, there needs to be some lighter colored accent pieces to help break it up.
Brown and tan area rugs are great for almost any décor, since they are both neutral colors and compliment most other colors and design schemes. As in the example above, a brown and tan area rug can be a perfect compliment to darker shades of brown and even red.
When choosing a place for your new brown and tan rug, consider the following:
The color of your walls: the great thing about these colors, of course is that they compliment almost all other colors. Many people have white or cream colored walls, but if your walls are a bold dramatic color, such as bright purple or yellow or red, make sure that the rug that you choose includes these colors as well.
Where it will be placed: We mention placement a lot, and that is because it is such an important factor to consider. Many brown and tan rugs include white as well, which you may want to avoid in high traffic areas. Brown and tan are also normally considered to be too subdued for a child’s bedroom.
The material: wool rugs are a good choice for durability, but you may also want to consider a rug made out of natural fibers, such as sisal. A brown and white sisal rug, for example, can add a touch of nature an compliment a tropical decorating theme without detracting from the overall décor.
